The Mayfield Children's Home, later known as The Kershaw County Children's Home, operated in Camden from the 1930s to the 1980s. Many adoptions occurred at the Home and the known surviving records from 1930s through the 1950s are housed at the Camden Archives and Museum. These records are restricted to family members.
As these files are considered sensitive information, they are not available to the general public. Family members are allowed access to the files. Although many of these records are incomplete, if a specific record can be located staff will provide a copy for $5.00 which includes shipping and handling. Anyone interested in these records should contact the Camden Archives and Museum.
