Parks

 

The parks department maintains 14 city parks, Historic Camden, cutting/mowing approximately 1,000 acres of grass/fields. They also are responsible for line painting, striping and making of street and roadway signs. 

Boykin Park (West Hampton Street & Campbell Street)
Basketball court, picnic tables, trash receptacles, benches and playground equipment. 
 
Burndale Park (Fairlawn Drive & Brookgreen Court)
Playground equipment, benches and trash receptacles.

City Arena Park (Bull Street across from City Arena)
Used for basketball practice and neighborhood play.  Has playground equipment.
 
City Hall Park (Between City Hall & Fair Street)
It has playground equipment, picnic tables and trash receptacles. It has electrical hookups and asphalt parking lot for grills.
 
Edgewood Park (Savage Street & Beard Street)
Has swing set, slide and benches.
 
Hampton Park (Lyttleton Street & Dekalb Street)
Lighted by decorative lights. It has playground equipment, tables, benches, trash receptacles and electric hook-up. It also has a fully restored fountain.

Kendall Park (Haile Street & Park Circle)
½ mile walking trail. It has benches, trash receptacles and exercise stations. The lake has a boat ramp and swimming is permitted.
 
King Haigler (Ehrenclou Drive behind Camden High School)
Used by the Recreation Commission for Dixie Majors, American Legion and Mid-Carolina baseball. Also used by the Camden High School baseball team. 
 
Kirkwood Park (192 Stower Street - Kirkwood Community)
It has playground equipment, a concession building, bleachers, a baseball field, benches, trash receptacles and a basketball court.
 
Lynnwood Park (Battleship Road)
(30) acres to include swimming pool, baseball and soccer fields.

Monument Square (Intersection of Laurens Street & Broad Street)
This park consists of four quadrants. Soldier monuments set off two quadrants. The northeast quadrant is used by Camden Middle School children. The park has electrical hookup, trash receptacles and is lighted by decorative lights. The park includes the Camden Archives on the southeast quadrant.

Rectory Square (Chesnut Street & Lyttleton Street)
 It has playground equipment, benches, trash receptacles and gazebo with a fully restored fountain. The park contains two fully restored all weather tennis courts. It is lighted by decorative streetlights and has electric hook-ups.

Scott Park (242 Battleship Road)
Thirty-eight (38) acres. It is among the most heavily used facilities countywide. It contains a one mile walking / jogging track. It has picnic tables, four tennis courts, two t-ball fields, volleyball court, playground equipment and a ¼ mile running track. It has a covered picnic area and serviceable bathrooms.
