The Bonds Conway House

The Bonds Conway House, circa 1810, was built by Bonds Conway, believed to be the first African American in Camden to buy his freedom. The restored structure, until recently, had served as the office of the Kershaw County Historical Society, located on the campus of the Arts Center of Kershaw County. In 2022, the house was moved to the Historic Camden Foundation‘s Colonial Village campus.
