Revolutionary War Visitor Center Information Specialist

The City of Camden is seeking a dynamic, outgoing individual able to work independently as a customer service specialist in the Revolutionary War Visitor Center. Along with interacting with the public, the applicant will also assist with rentals, social media and communications.

The preferred applicant will have a BA or equivalent experience in SC history or the hospitality industry and events.  Excellent communication and computer skills are required.  Experience with Microsoft Office a must.

This is a full time position with benefits to include SC PEBA insurance, State Retirement, vacation and sick leave.  This position must be available to work some weekends, evenings and holidays. Salary DOQ.

Equipment Operator – Streets
Under regular supervision, operates a variety of heavy equipment in order to maintain the City’s street system.  Performs such activities as clearing ditches, building and repairing storm drains, etc.  Reports to the Parks and Streets Supervisor.
• Operates a variety of heavy equipment to include backhoe, bulldozer, motor grader, dump truck, tractor, roller, packer, log splitter, mixer, street sweeper, tamper, etc.
• Inspects, cleans, and maintains equipment.
• Builds, repairs and replaces storm drains; checks, clears and cleans storm drain ditches; removes foreign materials.
• Removes limbs and trees from roadways.
• Performs daily inspections of vehicles for proper and safe working condition.
• Receives and reviews various forms and documents to include maintenance charts, street maps, first aid kits, storm drain maps, safety manuals, MSDS, exposed control plans, etc.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• Requires a high school diploma or equivalent with minimum of one year related work experience and a valid Class “B” SC driver’s license.
Line Helper
Under direct supervision, is responsible for learning and performing basic assignments covering the less involved operations in the construction, removal, reconstruction, and emergency operations of transmission and distribution of electrical power service. Reports to the Electric Supervisor.
• Learns and assists in the basic elements of operations such as installing, removing and maintaining poles, towers, guys, arms, platforms, and other components of line or equipment support.
• Learns and assists in the installation, removal, and maintenance of line conductors and cables.
• Learns and assists in the installation, removal, and maintenance of line equipment units and related devices such as transformers, switches, voltage regulators, constant current regulators, lightning arresters, cutouts and other equipment items.
• Learns and assists in installs, removes, and relocates services, entrance runs, meters, enclosures and self-contained watt hour meters.
• Performs related activities to include driving truck, operating winch or derrick, tree trimming, making minor repairs to trucks and equipment, etc.
• Ensures safe working conditions and abides by all safety procedures and regulations as established. Inspects all equipment and machinery to ensure proper working order.
• Performs routine mechanical operations, operating heavy equipment, etc.
• Sets out warning signs, clears work site of obstacles and digs holes or trenches for poles, anchors, or cable installation.
• Operates and utilizes various equipment and machinery including line trucks, bucket trucks, saws, trencher, digger, electrical and mechanical tools, hand tools, power tools, and general office supplies.
• Performs other related duties as required.
• High school diploma or equivalent with a Class "A" CDL with Hazmat endorsement.

Under general supervision, is responsible for the fair and equal enforcement of all local and state ordinances and laws. Ensures and participates in the enforcement of traffic laws and regulations to include investigating traffic accidents, ensuring safety of streets and sidewalks, directing traffic at various public events, operating various related equipment, etc. Reports to the Sergeant, Shift Supervisor.

Under general supervision, operates a variety of heavy equipment in order to assist with the sanitation activities of the Public Works Department. Collects and transports commercial and residential trash. Operates collection truck and refuse vehicles on assigned routes and transports refuse to disposal sites. Performs routine cleaning, inspection and maintenance on vehicles. Assists with loading and unloading as needed. Performs other related duties as required.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Requires two (2) years related experience and a Class “A” or Class “B” commercial driver’s license.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:  Must be physically able to operate a collection vehicle as well as a variety of maintenance tools and equipment. Must be physically able to exert up to fifty (50) pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Position involves walking, reaching, bending, crouching, reclining, stooping and balancing, and is in excess of sedentary work. Must be able to lift and/or carry up to fifty (50) pounds.
