Downtown Camden Main Street Program

The City of Camden is among the most recent of South Carolina cities to join in the Main Street movement, which now includes more than 1,200 downtown districts across the country.

As a Main Street America Affiliate community, Camden is committed to focusing on what is special about our downtown commercial district, working together to strengthen the positive image of this center of our community, and to preserving its heritage while inviting economic development.

As part of this commitment, the City of Camden will adhere to the basic principles that define the Main Street Approach: a genuine public-private partnership in planning and action, a concerted effort to change attitudes and turn negative opinions around, and a commitment of time and resources to focus on comprehensive revitalization efforts that are oriented to quality businesses in the downtown and neighborhood commercial districts.

In June 2017, Main Street South Carolina presented its recommendations for the Downtown Camden program. You can read the full report here.
