2nd Annual Kids' Fourth of July Parade

Saturday, July 1, 2017 - 10:00am to 11:00am

Kids are invited to show their patriotic spirit by decorating their bicycles, scooters, and wagons and wearing their red, white, and blue for the second annual Kids’ Fourth of July Parade in downtown Camden. The parade will start at 10:30 am on Saturday, July 1, 2017. Participants are asked to meet at Camden City Hall at 10 am dressed in their parade regalia. Pre-parade activities will include face painting by the Camden High School and Camden Middle School Cheer Team and Eagle, the middle school mascot; temporary tattoos by the Camden Police Department; chalk art by the Downtown Camden Program; and balloons by the Camden Fire Department. The Hobkirk Hill Chapter of the DAR will be passing out flags, and the Kershaw County Library will be providing information about Summer Reading. Immediately before the parade, the Camden Rotary Club Singers will honor the occasion with the singing of the National Anthem. At 10:30 am, the Fife and Drum Corps of South Carolina, a volunteer corps assembled for the occasion under the direction of Robert Slade, will lead the parade down Rutledge Street to Broad Street where it will end. The Lugoff-Elgin High School Marching Pride drum corps will also perform in the parade. For the safety of the participants, motorized vehicles are not allowed, and children 10 and under must be escorted by an adult. Don’t forget to decorate your bicycle AND your helmet! The community is invited to watch the 10:30 am parade along Rutledge Street. Parking is available at the Town Green and on Commerce Alley as well as along Market and Broad Streets. Come out to support our youth and celebrate the U.S.A! The parade is sponsored by Books on Broad and Coffee and the City of Camden.
