Artillery Tavern Weekend
Starting the New Year with a Bang! Historic Camden has explosive news: a new cannon will be available to welcome the New Year!
We have use of a full-scale bronze reproduction three-pound grasshopper cannon for use at Historic Camden and the Camden Battlefield and Longleaf Pine Preserve. We are hosting an "Grasshopper Weekend" starting on the evening of February 23 at McCaa's Tavern for an "Artillery Tavern Night".
FRI 2/23 - 7pm – 10 pm
*$10 cover includes entry, drink ticket - cash bar + interactive 18th century firearms & cannon firing drills
Besides the cannon firing, we are planning on having it on display prior to the firing, to invite visitors to watch the cannon crew demo firing it, and maybe do a mock training for visitors. Also, we are working on having a color guard, other events, and pub music for the tavern.
