Groove Brothers is the recently formed group of Mike Frost on bass, drummer Rick Latham, guitarist Gregory Hodges, and Austin Brashier on guitar and vocals. This group of musicians are each famous in their own right, and have come together to present an evening of smooth sounds and fun rhythms.
Always in high demand as a studio and touring drummer, as well as a Master Educator, for Rick Latham, "It’s All About The Groove." Latham has toured and recorded as a featured member of The Edgar Winter Band as well as the groove master Chuck Rainey’s band - "Rainey Man." Latham has also performed with a diverse collective of artist covering all genres, from “Blues Legend” B.B. King to Grammy Award winning Pop Artist Juice Newton.
Gregory Hodges was born and raised playing guitar around the Upstate. At the age of 21, he left town and went on the road traveling with Col. Bruce Hampton and the Code Talkers. He found a home in New Orleans, where he got a chance to play and work with a lot of his musical heroes (George Porter, Art Neville, Hubert Sumlin, Aaron Neville, Lenny Kravitz, Charlie Musselwhite, John Mayall, Dr. John, Tom Jones, Lee Oskar, just to name a few). Now, he's back in the upstate area and has started his own band under the name "The Gregory Hodges Band".
Austin Brashier, guitar slinger and vocalist, has been exposed to music his whole life, being from a very musical family. But it was the exposure of guitar monsters like Buddy Guy, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimi Hendrix and Albert King that sent him spiraling through the tunnel of blues. Not wasting any time, he took his band on the road after high school, released a CD, and had the privilege of opening for or playing with many blues greats such as B.B. King, Koko Taylor, Tinsley Ellis, Derek Trucks, and Nappy Brown. When he was not on the road, Austin was backing up many Blues artists traveling through town such as Eddie Kirkland, Phil Guy and the list goes on.
A native of New York, bassist Mike Frost studied under jazz legends Pat Martino and Jaco Pastorius. More than a band leader and bass player, he is a composer, studio musician, educator, recording engineer and designer. He is an authentic crossover musician with a deep melodic pocket and soulful, creative solo approach, transitioning seamlessly from jazz standards to blues to funk to rock-n-roll, incorporating a unique and imaginative interpretation to his compositions. Mike has recorded and performed with a long list of high-profile musicians including Jesse Colin Young, Donald Vega, Wycliffe Gordon, Jorma Kaukonen, Jimmy Bruno, New York Voices, Delfeayo Marsalis, Greg Osby, Gregg Bissonette, Tommy Igoe, Chester Thompson, Esteban, The Gypsy Kings, David Mann, Manolo Badrena, John Miceli, and Jules Radino (BOC).
