Blue Stocking Society of Literature Book Club
FREE & Open to the public, REVP appreciated. The book club will meet in the Art Gallery at the Arts Center of Kershaw County. The Dowager Baroness, Lady Caroline Linnington, cordially invites all Learned Ladies with Interest to her gathering of The Blue Stocking Society of Literature on Saturday, the 12th of February, at half-past two of the clock, for Educational Conversation and Mutual Learning on a literature topic. Our subject for the day shall be on the new Gothic novel by the authoress, Mary Shelley, provocatively titled, “Frankenstein, or The Modern Prometheus” Emphasis shall be centered on serious dialogue and deeper understanding of the novel rather than insipid gossiping and inane chattering. A favorable answer is required by the 23rd of January to provide adequate time for all interested parties to pre-read the novel in advance of the discussion. Tea, biscuits, and other light refreshments will be served. This event is part of our Conversations at Douglas-Reed Series and benefits Long Gone LLC historic preservation programs
