Carolina's Hound Show
The Camden Hunt is holding the Carolina's Hound Show begining at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday May 6th, 2017 at Springdale Racecourse.
20 foxhound packs, 5 basset packs and 3 beagle packs have been invited. Thus far, 4 basset packs, 2 beagle pack and 10 foxhound packs have entered. The foxhound packs invited come from SC, NC, VA, MD, TN & AL; the basset packs from GA, MD, VA, NC & MS; the beagle packs from NC & SC.
There are four show rings, English dog hounds show in ring 1, Penn-Marydel dog hounds in ring 2, Crossbred dog hounds in ring 3 and American dog hounds will show in ring 4; Beagle and Basset dog hounds will show in ring 4 following the American dog hounds.
The Camden Hunt will be showing hounds in rings 1 and 3. Junior handler classes will show in ring 3 following the judging of dog hounds.
We’ll break for lunch somewhere between 11 & 1:30. LUNCH IS AVAILABLE ON THE GROUNDS. ANYONE WISHING TO JOIN US IS WELCOME, BUT MUST RSVP BY THE 30TH SO THAT WE HAVE A PRETTY GOOD HEADCOUNT. The price for lunch is $12 per person, which also includes a light breakfast offered earlier (8:00-9:00 a.m.).
The Jr. Pack Class will be held at the end of the lunch break, and on the Springdale Racecourse in front of the grandstand. The judging of bitch hounds will commence in all rings after the Jr. Pack Class is pinned. The day ends with the Pack Classes (Foxhounds are class 68 and Beagle/Basset hounds class 69), which are held on the racecourse in front of the grandstand.
In all, there will be somewhere between two and three hundred hounds on the grounds that day. If you are planning to attend, it would be wise to bring a lawn chair. :-)
