Irish History & Storytelling
Christina Neely is an American historian with a specialization in American Frontier/Colonial History, British Isles, as well as Slavery and Servitude. She received her Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Museology from the University of Nevada,
Reno in 2007, and a Masters in History from the University of Nebraska, Kearney in 2016. Her published thesis is called “Redlegs: Irish Bondage in the Colonial New World”. Her PhD in History from Liberty University is scheduled to be completed in the Spring of 2023.
Presentation: “Pioneers of Destiny: Irish Immigrants in Camden and Surrounding Areas”. This presentation will encompass the immigration of the Irish to Camden and the surrounding areas and will reflect upon their roles and contributions in carving out a civilization from the wilderness. The Irish contributed heartily to the creation of their new home in America as Frontiersmen, Tradespeople, Soldiers, Religious Pilgrims, Engineers, Educators and Statemen. The contributions, conflicts, and stories of the Irish in the Midlands and South Carolina will be examined.
