Mother's Day "March with the Mayor" Walk
Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford is inviting moms and their families to join her the day before Mother's Day to "March with the Mayor"!
Bring the little ones, strollers, wagons, you name it, and join the Mayor for a one mile walk through Downtown Camden.
Gathering on the front lawn of Camden City Hall, the walk will follow Rutledge Street to turn right onto Church, then right onto DeKalb Street, right onto Broad, and left onto Rutledge, returning to City Hall.
It's all part of the nationwide "Move with the Mayor" campaign to encourage the citizens of Camden to enjoy some physical activity, foster community and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease across the city.
Heart disease is the leading cause of death in the U.S., killing approximately 655,000 people each year (1 in every 4 deaths). By getting up, getting out, and walking more, a person can reduce his or her risk and have a longer, more active life.
Move with the Mayor is a partnership between the City of Camden, LiveWell Kershaw, and the National Forum for Heart Disease & Stroke Prevention. Thank you to sponsors Graham Realty, First Palmetto Bank, The UPS Store, Craig & Vartorella, and the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Iota Omega Omega Chapter.
Look for more "Move with the Mayor" activities in the months to come.
