Random & Recurring: Sam Compton and Catherine Coulter Lloyd

Join us as we celebrate the opening night of "Random & Recurring," an exhibition by Sam Compton and Catherine Coulter Lloyd, both members of Camden Arts. Explore the abundance of color and texture in this incredible show by two of Kershaw County's loveliest artists. The exhibition will run until February 24th.

About Sam Compton: I am a native of South Carolina. I studied art at the University of South Carolina receiving a BA in studio art with a concentration in fiber arts and an MFA in art education. As an art educator I received national board certification and taught 26 years in public education. I was an adjunct faculty member at the University of South Carolina and Newberry college. I am currently retired. I am a published co-author for textbooks in South Carolina, Texas and Massachusetts and published an article in an art educators magazine. I am a professional artist and have had one-man shows in South Carolina and New York, My work has been exhibited in group shows in South Carolina, Georgia, and Tennessee. Last year I won first place in mixed media at the South Carolina State Fair. I was honored as one of six outstanding artists in South Carolina by the South Carolina Arts Commission for their 30th year celebration for the arts.

About Catherine Coulter Lloyd: Catherine Coulter Lloyd holds a Bachelors of Fine Arts from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, a Master of Fine Arts from East Carolina University in Greenville, NC and certification in Museum Management from the Jekyll Island Management Institute of the Southeastern Museum Council. Her career has encompassed arts/museum management, educator, and exhibiting artist. She currently teaches for Pitt Community College in Greenville, NC, provides exhibition design for Eyes on Main Street National Photography Exhibition in Wilson, NC, offers local classes and workshops, chairs Camden Arts Association, and operates an independent studio in Lugoff, SC. Deeply influenced by her upbringing in the NC Appalachian Mountains and SC Edisto River Swamps, Lloyd’s works consistently lean towards natural and familial themes inherent in the Carolinas. Her ceramic, photographic, and textile artworks have been exhibited nationally in juried competitions, invitational and solo exhibitions from New York to Louisiana.
