Annual Christmas Tree Lighting to Kick Off 2018 Holiday Season

Join your friends and neighbors for the official start of the holiday season in Camden with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of City Hall on Thursday, November 29th. Festivities begin at 6:00 pm with hot chocolate and holiday music featuring a small ensemble of the Camden Community Concert Band and the Camden Elementary School Choir. The children of Camden are invited to help Mayor Alfred Mae Drakeford “throw the switch” and light the tree. And there will also be a special visit from the man in red. Please bring a canned food item to donate to the United Way Mobile Nutrition Center.

Following the Tree Lighting Ceremony, take the short walk down Rutledge Street to the heart of Downtown Camden, as many businesses will extend their hours until 8:00 pm. Other vendors and nonprofit organizations will be “popping up” along Rutledge Street between City Hall and Broad Street.

This year, the Tree Lighting Ceremony officially kicks off Downtown Camden’s “12 Days of Christmas”, which highlights the many community events taking place in Downtown Camden between November 29th and December 10th. In addition to festival and parades, many downtown businesses will host special events for customers, including open houses, visits with Santa, and giveaways to help get you in the holiday spirit.
