Camden Police Department Gains D.A.R.E. Officer, Drug Investigator

The Camden Police Department recently gained a D.A.R.E. Officer, as Officer Karen DeVors recently completed D.A.R.E. Certification through the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy. Officer DeVors is currently one of the Police Departments two Community Oriented Policing Officers, seen at many community functions throughout Camden interacting with residents to create positive relationships and proactively address issues and concerns. 

Officer DeVors will utilize her new certification to influence the youth in our community to make positive choices, through coordinated D.A.R.E. activities in schools as well as providing literature and mentorship at events around Camden. 

In addition, the Camden Police Department was recently awarded a grant through the The Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grants Program to hire a drug investigator. This grant will allow for the hiring and equipping of an investigator, which will increase the Department's proactive approach to minimizing the presence and use of illegal substances in Camden.
