Preparation for Hurricane Florence

In preparation for Hurricane Florence, the City of Camden is sharing details and information released by Kershaw County.

Kershaw County has activated their South Carolina Emergency Operations Plan and is currently operating in OPCON 3.

The Kershaw County Hurricane Hotline (803-425-7242) is activated as well. Current hotline hours of operation are 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM, however, hours may be extended due to high call volume.

Tune into 102.7 FM, 97.5 FM, 106.7 FM, 88.1 FM and 91.3 FM for broadcasted emergency information for Kershaw County.

The South Carolina Hurricane Guide includes preparation tips for your family and pets, important state and federal emergency phone numbers, and evacuation routes for the State. 

A Red Cross Disaster Shelter will open Friday, September 14 beginning at 8:00 AM at The Camden High School Cafeteria. Due to construction on York Street, the shelter can only be accessed from US 521/Ehrenclou Road. Please use the Faculty and Bus Parking Lot to access the shelter. 

If you need sheltering, please remember to bring the following basic items:
• Bedding
• Clothing
• Medications
• Drinks and Snacks

Certified service animals are accepted at the Red Cross Disaster Shelter, however, pets are not allowed. For a list of pet sheltering locations within Kershaw County, please visit www.kershaw.sc.gov or call The Hurricane Hotline at 803-425-7242.
